The Witch of Blackbird Pond is historical fiction, based in America, and addresses gender roles, revolution, religion, and the Salem witch trials.
This book did not elicit emotion in me. I did enjoy reading it though, and I wanted to continue reading. I wanted to know what happened to Kit and Hannah, and if they made it out alive. I learned from this book that Quakers were treated horrible at the time, and that women had absolutely no say in anything, not even who they married.
I think this is a very good book and would recommend reading if you enjoy historical fiction. I think the author kind of cut the story short, and the climax was near the end of the book. But, overall I would definitely recommend this book to a friend or family member.
